The animals, the music, the clowns, the high wire act, the cotton candy... Ok, maybe that's mainly me. I have been a fan of the circus since I was just a kid and I am super excited to be able to take Micah to his very first circus, later this month. I can't wait to see his face light up when he sees all the amazing sights. The older kids (19 & 16) are super excited too, but they are trying to play it off, 'cause they are teenagers and they are way too cool to show emotion. DISCLOSURE: My family & I will be attending this year's Nashville Boat and Sportshow free of charge, in exchange for sharing this info with you guys. I was also allotted six tickets to give away to one of my lucky mid south readers. No other compensation will be received. With the high temps forecast in the single digits for the next couple of days and a light dusting of snow on the ground, it's hard to hold on to the belief that spring is right around the corner. The kids are still on winter break for two more days and I have "gone to my happy place" more times than I care to admit in a public forum, over the last 2 weeks. I am dying to get out of the house for something other than milk, bread and eggs. Luckily for me (and the kids), the 2014 Nashville Boat & Sportshow is almost here. I am a true southern girl. My Daddy taught me at an early age the pride of baiting your own hook, waiting (patiently or not) for that little tug, the excitement of reeling in the first fish of the day, especially when it was before he even got a bite. I have never forgot the days we'd spend, up at the crack of dawn, just to get a good spot on the lake. Those are the memories I treasure most and I am so lucky to be able to make similar memories with my kids. The Boat and Sportshow is a yearly event here in Nashville and I have always been interested in checking it out, but just never got around to it. I guess I always thought it was just for people who were seriously interested in purchasing a boat, but I have since found out, it is so much more. The Boat & Sportshow has a little something for everyone, even the little ones and withFREE admission for kids 15 and younger and active duty Military, you really have no excuse not to pile everyone up in the family car and head out to the brand new Music City center on 5th Ave, between January 23-26 and check out the Nashville Boat & Sportshow for yourself. Here's just a few of the things you have to look forward to, at this year's Nashville Boat & Sportshow... Special appearance by Dora the Explorer and John Godwin from Duck Dynasty, informative seminars on everything from boater's education, children's water safety to fishing to how to find the right financing for your new boat purchase.
There will also be several opportunities to enter to win some really cool prizes, including a houseboat getaway on Dale Hollow Lake, some cool stuff from Bumfloat and you can even WIN a family pack of tickets right now. To win, all you have to do, is tell me your favorite thing to do, around middle Tennessee, during the warmer months... Fishing at Percy Priest, picnic at Centennial park, golf at McCabe golf course or even just a nice drive around Edwin Warner park or Radnor Lake, whatever you and your family like to do, leave a comment below, then claim your entries on the Rafflecopter. I will pick ONE lucky winner on Monday January 20. Good Luck!
As I've gotten older, I have noticed a few little things that I'm not too excited about. I am 38 and as most women my age, I have a few little lines here and there, nothing major, just a few, mostly from smiling and squinting but they are more than I would like to have. Mind you, I'm not completely obsessed with my looks, or am I going to bug out over a few little lines, but why not do something about them before they get too bad to correct. I admit, I have a less than perfect beauty regimen. I don't always remember to wash my face before I go to bed, I don't always use sunscreen or wear a hat when going out in the sun, but I do have a few tricks I use to keep my skin looking its best. *Your skin is made up of three main building blocks, Collagen, the main component of the dermis and gives it durability. Elastin, which gives skin (and other organs like the lungs and blood vessels) resilience and bounce and Hyaluronic Acid, which holds water and gives skin volume. In young skin, it is present around and between collagen and elastin cells. As skin ages, though, hyaluronic acid does not play that connective role, which explains the popularity of anti-aging treatments that inject it into the skin. For us needle-phobes and chickens, there's a better alternative, topical application. The old saying "great things come in small packages" is definitely true for this awesome collagen masque from NeoCell. It is the perfect product to use once or twice a week for a deep moisturizing treatment. I apply a light layer to my skin, leave it on for 20 or 30 minutes (it doesn't dry, so don't bug out if it stays on the skin) then wash it off. It isn't too greasy or heavy and feels amazing. NeoCell's Collagen Radiance Serum is an awesome every day product. It is light and absorbs quickly and is not at all greasy. The collagen+C Liposome Serum is made using time-release micro-capsules that penetrate the skin to deliver collagen stimulating ingredients and potent anti-oxidants where the skin needs them most. Fat-soluble Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and phospholipids containing essential fatty acids to enhance the skin's firmness, elasticity, and moisture. I have been using the NeoCell products for about a month now and I can't swear to it, but I actually think my skin has gotten a little smoother and it is most definitely more soft and supple. While I can't say that something miraculous has happened, I don't look ten years younger, my skin didn't return to the state it was, when I was 15, in 30 days, but I can say that since using the products, I feel like I look better and isn't that what really matters? The nice folks at NeoCell have generously offered to give one lucky reader the chance to win some of these awesome products for their very own. Check out the easy Rafflecopter form below. Good Luck!!! *Source Most of us (girls and guys) know how to care for our skin during the summer... SPF protection, moisturizers and all that good stuff, but many of us don't know how to take care of our skin during the winter months. With the weather getting colder, our skin will face some serious challenges, but with a few tips and a little common sense, you'll be just fine. Tips for Beautiful Winter Skin: One of the biggest concerns we deal with, during winter, is dry skin. Skin can dry out extremely fast during colder months, due to the lack of humidity, coupled with the cold wintry air, it's the perfect storm for developing skin issues, but with a good skin care routine, you can have healthy, beautiful skin all winter long.
