"What makes you sparkle?"  It seems like an easy enough question, but when I sat down to write this post, it wasn't quite so easy to answer. What does make me sparkle?   I stewed over this question all day, trying to figure out what to write, but came up with nothing. As the day progressed, I went about my daily chores and duties, but in the back of my mind was that question. . . "What makes you Sparkle?".

It surely wasn't the nasty dishes I just loaded into the dishwasher. It wasn't the skid marked preschooler's tighty whities I just had the pleasure of scrubbing.  It wasn't the thirty minutes I spent looking for my (grown) son's work shirt. It wasn't the 3 inches of scum that I had to scrub off of the boy's pool, in order for him to go swimming, when I would have much rather been inside, in the cool air conditioned house.

It wasn't any of those things, but as I was sitting there, griping to myself, under my breath, about having to clean out the pool, Micah came and sat down in front of me and said "Thank You, Mommy", without being prompted or reminded. My heart melted and it was at that moment I was sure I had my answer. . . that smile, it's what makes me Sparkle!

 It's knowing that even though it doesn't seem like a big deal, every crappy little thing I do, is making a difference in these kids' lives. Even though they don't appreciate all the nasty stuff I do to make their life (halfway) comfortable, one day they will and it is for that day, I do the crappy stuff and when I get overwhelmed or burned out, that little smile has an uncanny way of brightening my entire day.
