As my kids have gotten older and the age gap between them keeps widening, (20, 17 and 4) I find it harder and harder to come up with activities they will all enjoy, while allowing Mom to spend precious time, with them, making new memories (and messes). There are very few things all my kids will agree on, but one thing they all love, is family movie night, because they know it will be filled with amazing goodies, fun games and probably a surprise or two. Check out our latest adventure, a "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" themed movie night, including a ton of entertaining essentials from World Market. When I was making plans for this movie night, I kept three things in mind, Food, Family and Fun. The food part was easy. Everybody knows the Ninja Turtles love pizza, so obviously we had to serve pizza. As old as my kids are, we were able to do a DIY pizza bar, where I simply set out the ingredients and they each made their own, personal sized pizzas. Did you know World Market has pizza making supplies?! They have everything... the crusts, the sauce and even the toppings (minus the mozzarella) and their wine selection is amazing too. (wink wink) What goes good with DIY pizzas? DIY Sushi, of course. World Market has a sushi kit I had been eye-ing for months and I figured this was the perfect opportunity to grab one and try it out. The kit comes with everything you need to make your own sushi rolls at home, including the rice, the sushi vinegar, wasabi paste, nori and the rolling mat. The only thing I added was some imitation crab, cream cheese and some Sriracha mayo. Now that we had the savory out of the way, it was time to figure out the "sweet" side of the menu; my favorite part. As I was scouring Pinterest for ideas, I found "candy sushi"... WHAT?! This is really a thing?! It's like my two favorite things, combined into one. Candy and sushi, what's not to love, right? The ingredients for candy sushi are super easy and the only limit, is your imagination. For candy sushi, all you need is marshmallow krispie treats, gummy candies, pop rocks and a good imagination. World Market has more gummy candies than you can shake a stick at, so it was really easy and fun to come up with some really cute "sushi" pieces. No Asian inspired meal would be complete without the fortune cookie at the end and with this being a "TMNT" inspired party, of course we had to have mutagen covered fortune cookies. I am happy to say, no one turned into a mutant after eating these cookies. For this fun treat, I simply melted some Ghirardelli white chocolate and tinted it green, then dipped the ends and set them on a piece of wax paper, to dry. After we got our fill of pizza, sushi and sweet treats, it was time for the "FUN" part of our movie night; "TMNT" themed BINGO. This game is played the same as any BINGO game. I have created four printable boards, or you can pair up and play as teams. You will need to print (and laminate, if possible) each piece of the game, then cut out the cover pieces and the "call" pieces. The full instructions and the other boards and pieces are available, when you click on the picture below. You don't have to spend an arm and a leg to have a fun evening and make some new memories with your kids. With a few treats from World Market and a little imagination, you can have a great time with your kids and while you're at it, you could enter to win World Market's Movie Lovers Sweepstakes. There will be a winner each week and you could win some awesome prizes, including FREE movies for a year & a $1000 World Market gift card. The sweeps ends on Feb 21, so get your entries in NOW!!!
