DISCLAIMER: I shopped savvy using Walmart Saving Catcher, as part of a sponsored post for Crowdtap #WMTSavingsCatcher. Being the HBIC of a large-ish family isn't always easy. As you've seen me lament, on my Facebook page, life is not always like a box of chocolates, unless that box of chocolates is melted, running down your hand, onto your new white shirt, while crying, screaming and asking to be fed or wiped or Gods forbid, BOTH! While a Mom's job is never easy, there are a few ways I have learned to "hack" the system. With these easy, fun shopping tips, (and Walmart Savings Catcher) you too, can be the star of your own life... OK, maybe shopping is never a glamorous job, but I can definitely help you not wanna get all stabby, the next time you have to go to Walmart, to grab a few necessities. Tip #1... Shop when the baby sleeps. After having my last child, someone was nice enough to tell me, "Sleep when the baby sleeps."... Yeah that would be great, so then I could get no work done, at all, zip, zero, zilch. I have found this tip to be very helpful, now, since my youngest is 4, naptime is definitely my favorite time of day. It's when I get all my stuff done. You know, shopping, bathing, cooking and maybe even a few minutes of "grown up" time... to potty, in peace. Tip #2... Sneak Out. There is nothing wrong with sneaking out of the house, to go do your shopping, by yourself, in peace, alone, by yourself, alone, did I mention, "in peace"? Unless, of course, your kids are home by themselves, then it would probably not be the best idea. So, assuming your partner or an able bodied individual of at least 15 or 16 year of age is in the home, by all means sneak the heck out! Throw a piece of candy one way, then run the opposite. It's not a very technical or graceful maneuver, but highly effective in separating a clingy child from your leg and once you're gone, who cares, it's Dad's problem, at that point. Tip #3... Go shopping late at night, like after 11pm. My parents always told me, "nothing good ever happens after 10:00p.m.."... Well, they obviously have never been to Walmart after dark, because let me tell you, there's all kinds of good stuff happening there, at night. First of all, the amount of "traffic" in a store greatly diminishes after 10p.m., except for other Moms and the occasional stockboy, you will probably not have a problem bumping into a ton of people, while you're shopping for tampons, in your "comfy pants" (aka pajama pants). Tip #4... Leave your coupons at home. Yep. I said leave your coupons at home. You won't need them, if you're going to Walmart. I know it was an old dude, named Sam, who started Walmart, but I swear it is a woman running it now, because only a woman would know what a PITA coupons are. The clipping and keeping track of them is more than I can bear. I am not what one would call... how do you say... Ummm, "organized". I'm kind of organized, as in I know where to find stuff, if I need it, but having to clip and maintain a huge binder, full of coupons, is not my idea of fun and thanks to Walmart's Savings Catcher, I don't have to do all that stuff, I just have to shop as usual and they do the rest. Let me show you... After your next excursion to Walmart (I say it that way, 'cause it sounds way more fun than "shopping trip"), save your receipt. Not only does it prove you didn't steal a bunch of stuff, it can potentially give you money back. Using your handy dandy computer, log on to Walmart's Savings Catcher page and sign up for a FREE account. You can also download the app too, but I have zero space on my phone, so I used the online version.. They don't ask a bunch of questions about your family history, blood type, favorite movie, first childhood pet or teacher or favorite food. It's simply your email address, a password and the name you like to be called. I used Mike. After entering the receipt info to the site, you will get a confirmation screen, like this, letting you know you didn't screw it up. It says it can take up to 3 days, but I only had a 1 day turnaround on my last entry. (you are allowed 8 receipts a week) While you're waiting to see how much you'll be getting back, you can do all kinds of fun stuff... take a shower, feed the kids, go for a nature walk, unless, of course, it's raining where you are, then that might not be too fun, unless you walk straight to Walmart and buy yourself an umbrella... but I digress. After a minimum of 1 and no more than 3 days, you will get a cool message in your email inbox, telling you how much you'll be getting back. It's almost like income tax time, but way less stressful. After seeing your savings amount, you can choose to put it on a Walmart gift card or on a Bluebird card. (you'll get double if you choose Bluebird, but it has special terms, you can see, before you choose your redemption method) At any time, you can go back and look at all the receipts you have entered, as well as the redemption amount and the site even offers you coupons (if you're into that sort of thing), a link to their weekly ad and the app, as well. Walmart Savings Catcher does all the hard work for you, well, most of it, you'll still have to carry your own 24 pack of Spring water to your car, by yourself, but with the money you'll be getting back, maybe you can con... er, I mean ask one of your kids to do it for you. Happy Shopping and if you're feeling super lucky, you can head over to enter to WIN a $2000 Walmart shopping spree and you can share for even more entries!
