DISCLOSURE: I was provided with a complimentary 2 night stay at Smoky Cove to facilitate this post, however, all opinions, experiences and pics are my own. Warning: This post is picture heavy. National vacation rental month, celebrated each July, recognizes a better way to get away. In celebration, Wyndham Vacation Rentals is giving back to its customers by offering them the chance to save up to 35% off. Wyndham Vacation Rentals is the world’s largest professionally managed vacation rentals company, with more than 100,000 properties in hundreds of destinations worldwide. They are the only vacation rentals company backed by a major hospitality brand (Wyndham Worldwide) which makes them in the unique position to offer guests the best of both worlds – the comforts of home with the added convenience of hotel-like amenities and Wyndham's exclusive Vacation Rental Bill of Rights guarantees everything will be up to your strict standards. Wyndham Vacation Rentals offers properties in some of the most sought-after beach, ski, mountain, theme park, golf and tennis resort destinations in North America, such as, Myrtle Beach, Destin, Orlando and The Smokies. If being Stateside is not your "cup o' tea", Wyndham also offers guests abroad both traditional experiences in cottages, private homes and condos, and more unique stays in house boats, castles and tents throughout some of Europe’s most popular destinations. Tally Ho, good chap! Truth be told, any kind of getaway is amazing, but there's just something about getting away to your own private vacation rental. Hotels are great and can offer a lot of fun things to do, with a family, but can you imagine waking up to this view, from your private deck & hot tub, every morning, while on vacation?! Your morning coffee even tastes better when you enjoy it in a tranquil setting like this. (this has not been scientifically proven {yet}) With features like Washer/Dryer in (most) units, ample space to keep the kids entertained/out of your hair, on site pools and hot tubs (most locations) and fully equipped kitchens, a vacation rental is definitely the way to go. A rental also provides you a more relaxed atmosphere that you just can't get with a traditional hotel or resort and if the kids get on your nerves, you can send them to "their" room. The short answer is no. The price of a vacation rental, per day, per number of bedrooms is actually cheaper than a traditional hotel. Not to mention, with the amount of space a rental has to offer, you can cut your costs in half, by inviting a friend or family member (that you wouldn't mind being with, for a week or so), making a rental an even better value than a traditional hotel. Especially when you utilize the fully equipped kitchen, instead of eating out. The specific amenities will differ from unit to unit, but a few of the standard amenities, in most units, include. . . fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, private patio/deck, community pools and hot tubs (many units have private hot tubs), private parking, free wifi, private grill and many more. To give you a better idea of what you can expect, here's a few pics from our latest adventure at Mountain Majesty at Smoky Cove, Sevierville, TN, in the heart of the Smokies. . . Welcome to the Wildlife From the second I stepped foot onto the porch, I knew this was going to be an experience I'd never forget. The feeling you get from a vacation rental is one that you just can't get from a traditional hotel. It's kind of like being at home. . . If your home was set in the middle of the Smokies, in a beautiful 2,800 sqft, tri level cabin with two wrap around decks, its own private hot tub, in room jacuzzi, four bedrooms plus a loft, three and a half baths, seven flat screen TVs, pool table, foosball table, air hockey table, poker table and theater room! Did I just say "theater room"?! Yep, theater room. The bottom floor of "Mountain Majesty" has been transformed into an amazing theater room, complete with all kinds of pre-loaded DVDs in the disk changer. Pop some popcorn and head downstairs for a fun, family movie night, while counting the money you saved by not going to Jim Bob's Mountain Adventure/Money Sucking activity (another way vacation rentals are a better value than staying at a traditional hotel). Every time I say "theater", I find myself saying it with a British accent, like "the-a-tah" and I hold my pinky up, for effect. {You would too, if you had a theatah in your home} For me, vacation is all about relaxing and getting away from all the stresses of daily life and there's nothing more relaxing than sitting on the wrap around deck, eating your {world famous} sweet onion Teriyaki burgers while sipping on an ice cold drink. Before we headed up to the mountains, I stopped and grabbed a few BBQ essentials from World Market and we made an evening of it. I made my famous teriyaki burgers, fries and some yummy root beer float popsicles. The kids even sat at the table while we ate, it was amazing and felt so nice just to be together, enjoying each others company. After dinner, we were too full to pile up in the car and head into downtown Gatlinburg, so we just took a little stroll to the local pool hall/game room . . . that happened to be right upstairs. Micah and I were the first ones to test out the pool table and I am proud to say I beat the pants off him. OK, it wasn't a full length, regulation pool game and I only sunk two balls, but I still won, nevertheless. After a friendly game of cards or air hockey, you can head downstairs to the porch swing on the wraparound deck or take a nice long soak in the private hot tub. The hot tub was a family favorite and after the sun went down (after the little one was asleep), it was a super romantic spot for hubby and me to relax and isn't that the whole point of vacation anyway?! Another reason I prefer a vacation rental, being able to steal a few minutes of alone time with my best friend. (without any annoying hotel guests) At the end of the night, after all the fun was over, we each retired to our respective bedrooms and fell fast asleep. The beds were super soft and comfy and I am pretty sure I was asleep before my head ever hit the pillow. The little one was extremely impressed with the sleeping arrangements, he felt like such a big boy, in his bunk bed. He kept remarking about how cool it was to have his own closet... I'm pretty sure we have closets at home too, but this closet was better, I suppose. I guess, sometimes, it really is the little things in life that make it worthwhile. . . Like an in room Jacuzzi tub. Along with the master suite and the game area, the upstairs level also has two additional sleeping areas. Including all three bedrooms and the extra sleeping areas in the loft and the sofa sleeper, Mountain Majesty will sleep up to 14 people. Think about what an amazing value that is, when you split it with one or two friends or family members. According to a recent study by Trip Advisor, Gatlinburg, TN is one of the top 5 most affordable places to spend a week's vacation. Also in the top 5 are Myrtle Beach, SC and Orlando, FL, also very popular vacation rental locations for Wyndham. The TripIndex Vacation Rentals survey compares the price of a summer trip for a family of four in 15 popular vacation rental destinations throughout the U.S., including the combined average costs of a week-long stay in a two-bedroom vacation rental property, a one-day bike rental, basic groceries and dinner at a restaurant. No matter where you decide to spend your vacation, Wyndham has a vacation Rental for you. Whether you want a secluded, one bedroom, rustic cabin or something more extravagant like Mountain Majesty, or even a nice lakefront cottage, Wyndham has you covered. If you haven't scheduled your family vacation yet, do yourself a favor and check out all the amazing vacation rentals Wyndham has to offer. Their site is super user friendly, simply choose your desired destination, a few relevant pieces of info, like how many bedrooms, bathrooms and such, hit the "search" button and viola', everything that is available, with your desired check in/out date, pops up and you can even book right from the site.
