It's that time of year again. The time of year when the hubby and I are "hood rich" for all of three days and spend way too much money on sushi... It's income tax refund time. We have 3 awesome little deductions and Uncle Sam withholds more during the year, so we usually end up with a pretty nice refund. Hubby's a pretty smart guy, he files our taxes early, so we usually have our refund back by mid February and that's when the two day, all out shopping spree begins. This year, I got new glasses and contacts, the kids got a few new summer outfits & shoes and hubby got a new Nokia Lumia 521 smartphone with unlimited talk, text and web for less than $40 a month, from Walmart Family Mobile, which is the lowest mobile service I have found and the best thing is, it's available at Walmart, for less than $100 bucks. The Nokia Lumia 521 is an awesome phone, Hubby loves his. He wasn't really sure he'd like it, because he wasn't familiar with the Windows operating system (he was an Android guy), so we read the reviews on it, before we bought it and fortunately, they were right, the phone is super fast (1 ghz processor) and very user friendly. It has an awesome camera and runs all his favorite apps and games (of course, it makes/receives phone calls too). Walmart had a really nice selection of phones, in case the Windows OS isn't your thing, they also have several Android phones under $100 too. After you choose your phone, all you need to do is grab a quick start kit, which contains your SIM card and activation info and head to the check out. Easy peasy! When you get home, you can easily activate your phone, by going to the Walmart Family Mobile website, answer a few questions (name, address, etc), choose a plan(39.88+tax for the UNLIMITED talk, text and web) and you're all set. It is quick, easy and completely painless. As a matter of fact, we ended up saving almost $20 a month on Hubby's bill when we switched to Walmart Family Mobile, which I am planning to save and eventually buy myself a new phone too. So, if Uncle Sam owes you a little bit of change this year, you can either invest a hundred bucks in a new smartphone from Walmart Family Mobile or you could always stock up on candy... Or.... Or Maybe Even... Ok, so maybe that last one isn't fair, but you know you need a new phone wayyy worse than the cookies, because you can call and check on your kids with a phone, but not a cookie. (but if you do happen to buy a box or two, on your way out of the store, I won't tell and personally, I suggest the Do-si-dos with a huge glass of milk.... while reading about something yummy on my blog, with your new smartphone)
