More than 200,000 families have been helped by the Make A Wish foundation since its start in 1980. Every 40 minutes, somewhere in the US, a child's wish is being granted, thanks to generous corporate contributions and private donations from people such as yourself. The great thing about Make A Wish is, you don't have to be rich to make a difference, every single dollar counts, you don't even have to use your own money... from now until March 31st, Heinz and PAAS {the official sponsors of Easter in my home this year and every year} will donate $1 (up to 25,000) to the Make A Wish foundation when you decorate and share a virtual Easter egg with their new app, available online and iPad. Simply search "PAAS/Heinz" in the iTunes store or go to the PC version HERE. I remember when I was a little girl, my Mom would help me dye Easter eggs. I can remember it was always a big "to-do". She would put newspaper on the counter and take every precaution to keep messes down to a minimum. She still made sure I had fun though. I can remember, every year, getting to pick out which PAAS Easter egg dyeing kit I wanted from the grocery store. I specifically remember the first year the glitter kit came out, I swear I heard a choir of Angels when I turned the corner in Hill's grocery store and saw the brilliant, sparkling perfection on the end-cap of the aisle. It was a life changing experience. To this day, the smell of vinegar still takes me back to my childhood. My Mom has always been really good at doing all the fun, crafty, domestic-y stuff. She made me a whole family out of clay when I was a kid and we'd play with them and make up stories and what-not. When I think back on it, I realize I really had a fun childhood and I so hope my kids will be able to say the same thing when they're grown. One way I plan to make those memories, is by introducing the boys to PAAS Easter egg decorating kits. They have all the classic colors plus their seven new designs for this year. The volcano Eggsplosion is the one Micah is "dyeing" to try first. It uses melted crayon shavings to create a cool effect. The Touch of Velvet is my pick this year. It comes with double sided adhesive and a flocking powder to create fun, fuzzy shapes on your eggs. They also have a food grade marker kit, Deggorating Doodles, it's really handy for writing names or other fine detail. PAAS kits are available at most major grocery, drug and mass market stores nationwide at n average price of around $4.25. upsDid You Know: Every Easter, Americans dye and decorate more than 180 Million {yes, MILLION} eggs?! Steps to perfectly colored eggs using PAAS Color Cups:
Here are some eggs we did last year, and be "we", I mean "Me". I am gathering up my nerve to dye eggs with Micah this weekend {Steven is too "cool" to dye eggs with poor ol' Mom anymore} and I will update with our results. Don't forget to make a virtual Easter egg and share it with your friends and family to help Make A Wish! TO BE CONTINUED.....
