I'm ashamed to admit, but I've never made popcorn balls before. I have eaten plenty of them, but until last week, I had never made them before, fearing they would be messy and hard to handle. I was so wrong, they were super easy to make and with the help of the Jolly Time popcorn ball maker, I didn't even have to burn myself to make these Ooey Gooey balls of deliciousness. (Although I did burn the popcorn)As I was getting my Martha Stewart on, making popcorn "from scratch", I got a little too over zealous with the heat and scorched the crap out of the popcorn. My whole house smelled like a hot mess, literally. So instead of admitting defeat, I decided to grab some Jolly Time microwave pop corn and call it even, because even I can't screw up microwave popcorn. Other than almost buring my house down, this recipe is super easy and you (I) will kick yourself for not making them sooner. All you need is a...
When the marshmallow/butter mix is almost done, add the kool aid & the caramels, stir until everything is melty and creamy. Pour the warm mixture onto the popcorn, in a big bowl. (I used a huge stainless steel mixing bowl coated with butter and it was relatively easy to clean) Stir it up until all the popcorn is well coated and then shape into balls, by hand or with a handy dandy Jolly Time pop corn ball maker. You can add sprinkles while it is still warm, if you want. Wrap the popcorn balls in a fun orange cellophane paper or a festive goodie bag, tied with a bow and have them on hand for all the little ghouls and goblins that grace your doorstep on Halloween night. If you're not comfortable with handing out food to strange kids, as their parents will probably not let them eat it, cut out the middleman and just give them a mini bag of Jolly Time pop corn tied up with a bow with this recipe card attached.

DISCLOSURE: This is a sponsored post, written by me, on behalf of Tylenol's "Smiling it Forward" campaign. I have received information and products from McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc., the makers of TYLENOL®. The opinions stated are my own. With all the bad things going on all around us... problems in the government, problems overseas, problems making ends meet, etc, it's sometimes hard to find a reason to smile, isn't it? Not really. There are reasons to smile all around us, every day, you just have to look for them The fact that you woke up today is, in itself is a great reason to smile, because 150,000 others weren't as lucky. Do you live under a roof? Smile! You're doing better than approx. 500,000 Americans. Do you have food in your home every day? SMILE! 50.1 million Americans can't say the same thing. I have a home that is mine, I have 3 healthy children, I have a husband that loves me as much as any man ever could, I have food on my table, I was born in America, I have perfectly functioning limbs and a mind that works {most of the time}, I have a wonderful family that taught me what it's like to be a part of something, I have friends that I can call any time of the day or night and I know they'll be there, I haven't always made the best choices in life and there are many times that things probably should've ended differently for me than they did, but they didn't and I've worked hard and fought to become the person I am today and I have a much clearer outlook than I once did and for that I am thankful. I SMILE! So when you think about how angry the slow cashier at Petco is making you, because "Honey Boo Boo" is about to come on and you don't want to miss it, and you want to get mad, don't, just SMILE! 'Cause in all actuality, it really isn't all that bad out there for most of us. Unless you're one of the 50.1 million Americans who go without food or are one of the over 10,000 families dealing with childhood cancers, you really don't have it that bad... and that's why I'M Smiling it Forward and now you can too. What makes you smile? Tylenol wants to know. How can you help? Between now and January 31, 2014, the makers of TYLENOL® will make a $1 donation to Children’s Health Fund for every photo approved & shared onSmilingItForward.com, with a minimum donation of $75,000 and maximum donation of $100,000*. |
