The folks over at Build a Bear Workshop just get it, ya know?!
I love how they keep changing and adapting, never getting old and played out selling the same old stuff all the time, they are always right with the times and totally relevant while keeping with their same basic, fundamental principles of making friends and having fun.

Make a Day of It!
When I was little, my Mom and I would put aside one day a week, usually Saturday, to go have a "Girls Only" day.
This was a time way before Mother Daughter manis and pedis. It was a time of Chicken on a Stick at the mall and "mystery grab bags" from the Sanrio shop.
I remember saving my allowance every week and getting one of those grab bags and just dying to tear it open to see what was inside. It was usually a piece of Hello Kitty candy, a sticker or two and a little pad of paper, pen or some other stationary type item.
I always knew it was gonna be the same basic items, but I still couldn't wait to get to the mall and see what I would get.
Maybe it wasn't the grab bag I was looking forward to, but the time spent with my Mom, maybe it was both, but the point is, after all these years, those are the times I remember most. Those Saturday afternoons with my Mom, having girl time were some of the best memories I have... that and sneaking to watch American Bandstand on Saturday mornings while I was supposed to be folding clothes.... Yep, Saturdays were pretty cool.
{Am I the only one who hears Doogie Howser MD. music playing quietly in the background as I type?} (if you don't get it, you're too young, Google it)
The Build a Bear Workshop is a great place to make those kinds of memories with your little ones, so make a day of it.
Start off by making them do their chores and tell them if they do they will be "handsomely rewarded". {Yes, it's been used, but they're young, they'll never know}
Pack a fun lunch, you can cut the sandwiches into fun shapes with cookie cutters, throw a few apples and juice boxes into a bag and set out to your favorite picnic spot.
If weather is permitting, a park would be ideal, but since it's winter, I would suggest you try the play place at your local mall or maybe you could even "camp out" in your car for lunch, close to your local Build a Bear Workshop, and see if they can guess where you're taking them.
Give them a couple of hints, tell them it's in the general vicinity and let them know if they're getting "hot" or "cold". {If this is your child's first trip to the Build a Bear Workshop, this game will prove difficult}
{Note: "Camping Out" in your car is only fun and safe if you are in a well ventilated area, otherwise, it could turn into a memory making afternoon of a whole other variety}
This is a very tongue in cheek "Saturday Family Funday" itinerary, but in all seriousness, the Build a Bear Workshop is an awesome place to make a new friend, a memory and maybe even start a new family tradition that your children will pass along to their kids one day.
Thanks to the awesome Build a Bear folks, I am giving one of you lucky readers a chance to win a $25 gift card towards the purchase of a new friend. Check out the easy Giveaway Tools form below for your chance to win.
There are several entry methods, do one or do them all, it's your choice.
