With the beginning of the school year right around the corner, everyone is scrambling to get those much needed supplies. From pencils to paper and calculators to binders. Every college kid knows school supplies are expensive!!! Are you tired of paying too much for your text books? Tired of seeing all your friends go out on the weekends, but you're stuck at the dorm, because you spent all your money on buying textbooks that you will only use for one year? I have the perfect solution... Campus Book Rentals is a great alternative to the old school method of spending a ton of money on books for one year then trying to unload them on some other poor unsuspecting kid next year.
Campus Book Rentals is so easy to use, simply go to the site, pick out the book(s) you need, order them and sit back and wait for the book(s) to arrive, then return it when you're finished. You can even use a hi-liter pen to mark important info for future reference. The great thing about renting textbooks vs. buying them is that you can save 40 to 90% off traditional bookstore prices. You can see the difference for yourself here. They also offer FREE SHIPPING both ways and have flexible rental periods. You can rent by the semester, quarter or summer and when you're done with the books, you can also choose to rent them to another student through their Rent Back program. What is Rent Back?! Rent Back is new initiative that allows students to rent the textbooks they own - to other students... which is awesome because it makes them 2-4x more money compared to what they'd make through buyback options! Another really cool thing about campus Book Rentals is, they donate a portion of the proceeds from every book rented, to Operation Smile.

If you have nothing else better to do for the next twenty or thirty minutes, I highly suggest you check out this super cute Minions game. You can kick a Minion across the testing lab while gathering points. Micah and I have been playing it for longer than I'd like to admit and it's still fun, plus the music is super catchy.
Yes, this is exactly what it looks like... 9 broken eggs.
Being a Mom is hard work. From the time we wake up until the time the last kid goes to bed we have to be on duty. We have to be a short order cook {3x a day}, a maid, a seamstress, a laundry wench, a janitor {see pic}, a taxi driver, a doctor & nurse, a friend, an activities director, a relationship counselor, a pool lifeguard, a teacher and at least a hundred other things on any given day all that while trying to do get some kind of work done on the computer. I was recently reading a Washington Post article that was discussing the amazing impact of being involved in the arts and learning to play a musical instrument, on our children. Not only do they learn the obvious skill of playing an instrument {some better than others}, but they also learn important every day life skills, such as, confidence, problem solving, perseverance, focus, the ability to work well with others, how to deal with constructive criticism {anyone who has ever taken piano lessons should be a pro at this}, dedication and accountability.

Those of you who keep up with me on Facebook know that my hubby, Mike, was recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and after checking my sugar I realized that I too was having issues.
I had been previously diagnosed with diabetes during both of my pregnancies and they explained to me then that I was at higher risk of developing it again down the line, if I didn't take really good care of myself and watch my food choices very closely... Well, I didn't and here we are, eating pizza with no crust and drinking a crap ton of water every day to try to reverse the damage I've done to my body. The bad news is, I will not be able to eat a half a box of Little Debbie snack cakes like a teenager with the munchies anymore. I will have to make better food choices in the future and cut out all the yummy sweets that got me here. The good news is that eating good doesn't have to taste bad. You CAN eat foods that are good for your body without sacrificing flavor. This pizza has everything I love... sweet, savory and crunchy. |
