According to a recent Wall Street Journal article, parents are having a harder time than ever trying to diaper their children. With the economy still not fully recovered, parents are trying to save money wherever they can, and that includes baby care items. According to the same article, diapering a child in premium disposable diapers i.e. Huggies or Pampers (assuming six diaper changes a day) can cost up to $1,500 a year.
The tight U.S. economy has turned even essential goods into luxuries. Now consumer-goods companies are seeing something they thought would never come to pass: Parents are buying fewer diapers.
The volume of diapers sold in the U.S. slipped 1% in the four weeks ended Sept. 4 from a year earlier, extending a string of similar or steeper declines stretching back to August 2010, according to Consumer Edge Research. Dollar sales fell nearly 3%, indicating parents are both cutting back and trading down to cheaper private labels.
What's the big deal? So you just cut back on a few diapers here and there, problem solved... Right?
Neglecting just one diaper change "here and there" can result in a severe diaper rash for your little one. If you've ever had a baby with a raw bottom, you know how cranky and uncomfortable it can be, for you and the baby. The old saying "If Mama ain't happy, nobody's happy" should actually be... "If the baby ain't happy, nobody's happy".
When my oldest son was a baby, he had a rough time wearing anything but the most expensive all natural type diapers. It got very expensive, very fast.
I tried every type of diaper on the market and we finally found one that didn't break him out, they were $12.00 for a small bag, which was a ton of money back then (still is), for our young, one income family, just starting out. That's why I'm so thankful for all the deals I find at Family Dollar.

Both the diapers and wipes come in several different quantities, so you can buy just enough for the week or go ahead and stock up for the month, depending on what your budget allows. This comes in really handy at the end of the week when money is getting tight again. The small bag of diapers, which has 31 diapers in it (size 4), is only $6.50, and that will definitely last a week, barring any kind of food poisoning or stomach virus.
I've been using these diapers & wipes for over a week and have had no problems with them leaking, or with Micah breaking out.
The designs are unisex and will work for a boy or a girl.
