If you are a girl or know a girl, you probably also know; girls, no matter their age, like to feel pretty. I remember playing in my Mom's make-up, as a child and wanting to "fix" my Mom's hair and do her nails and wear dresses and pretty clothes (unless I was outside, digging in the dirt or fishing, with my Dad). It's just in our DNA, but as I've gotten older, my idea of getting "all dolled up" has changed dramatically. What used to take an hour, minimum, now takes all of 30 minutes. I still like to look pretty, but my idea of pretty has changed.
The layers of foundation I used, to hide my pimples and flaws have been replaced with a light, smoothing (high SPF) BB cream, just to even out the tone of my skin, not to hide. The dark, unflattering eyeliner I thought I needed, to look older, is now a light brown shadow and a kiss of mascara, to enhance my blue eyes, not to make myself look like someone I am not. The dark brown lipstick that I used to wear, to stand out, is now just a light gloss and the big, huge, 80's hair, that took an entire can of hair spray and 3 hours of back combing to accomplish, has been replaced with a good old fashioned ponytail, a very hip pony tail, but a pony tail nonetheless. I am still pretty, it just looks different when you're (almost) 40 vs 20.
