Since I am not capable of doing "wordless", I decided to rename today, "less words Wednesday"... Here's what we did this past weekend.... Saturday started off kind of bumpy. I wasn't feeling well and was kind of having a bad day in general, but I promised Micah we would go to Ghouls at Grassmere, so I knew I had to pull it together and I am so glad I did. We had such a great time, as is evident in the picture of Micah with his hero, Batman, who affectionately gave him bunny ears. I swear, seeing how happy this made him, brought tears to my eyes. I am so grateful to be able to let him experience all these fun opportunities this blog has afforded me. Ghouls at Grassmere is the Nashville Zoo's yearly fundraiser and we were lucky enough to score a family pass to check it out. (for free, thanks to the nice folks at the Nashville Zoo) Ghouls at Grassmere is a family friendly spooktacular designed (mostly) for kids 12 and under, but I am proof that even older kids (16 and 38), can enjoy this event.
DISCLAIMER: This is a sponsored post written by me, on behalf of Invino. Have you ever wished you had your very own sommelier? Yeah, me too, because I am horrible at picking out my own wine. I'm pretty good at drinking it, but not so much for choosing it. Invino, the original private sale wine service, introduces Inclub, a wine club for the discerning palate. Inclub works off several different algorithms and develops a taste profile according to your preferences. You will have the ability to choose your frequency of delivery, as well as the amount and quality of wine you receive. You can choose to do it up one month with an expensive, rich Syrah, but the next month you might want a light, less expensive sparkling white wine... that's cool. Your choice. Want to drink nothing but champagnes in the summer or Pinot in the fall, no problem, Inclub will note your preferences and suggest wines accordingly. A Week in the Life... So I've seen a lot of bloggers lately, posting their "A Week/Day in the Life..." posts and I have to admit, I am really intrigued by what other people do in their daily lives, especially other Moms. I'm always a bit more fond of the ones I can relate to... the ones who have fifty-eleven kids running around, who obviously haven't seen a hairbrush in a few hours (days), the ones who actually "live" in their homes, not just keep them like a museum, 'cause let's face it, a museum is a nice place to visit, but you wouldn't raise your kids there. I like the posts that involve at least one major catastrophe (preferably not life threatening), one or two fighting kids/pets, a husband who can not toss his dirty clothes in the basket if his life depended on it and a bad in-law story thrown in for good measure. As I was reading these posts, I noticed they always end at a certain time of the evening and it got me thinking... "What do these women do after xx time of night?" "Are they going straight to bed?" "Are they sneaking out of their homes and doing things so reprobate that they dare not blog or speak of them?" "Are they doing the same thing as me and just relaxing & watching TV, like "normal" people?" (Then I chuckled a little when I referenced myself in the same thought as "normal" people). Here's a quick highlight reel of what a week in the life of a Midlife Mommy is really like... In anticipation of Monsters University's October 29th release date, Disney has released these fun activities just in time for Halloween! Is your family ready for a monstrously good Halloween? Mike and Sulley want to make sure your home is fully monsterized with Sulley's Spooky Smoothie recipe, a Mike Wazowski pumpkin carving template, candy totes that are a scream to make and the spookiest window decorations on the block!
DISCLOSURE: I was provided with a complimentary product to facilitate this post, however all opinions are my own and not biased by any product received. Ok, Let's face it, being a Mom is hard enough without having to obsess about what to let our kids eat and drink. I mean, some days, I'm doing good to just keep everybody alive & in one piece, much less serve a perfectly balanced meal three times a day. I don't mean they eat cookies for a main course, but maybe a fruit and grain bar for breakfast every once in a while or a good ol' PB&J for lunch (which is actually not too bad for you, it has tons of protein and fruit (depending on the type of "J" you use). If you are like myself and most other Moms, you want an easy, nutritious way to make sure your little heathens are getting a little something good in their diet. V8 V-Fusion® Refreshers are a light, refreshing blend of 20 to 25% real fruit and veggie juice. Each serving contains 100% of your recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C and 10% of your RDA of Vitamin A.V8 V-Fusion®Refreshers are naturally sweetened, contain no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives and are great for the whole family. I got to try the Black Cherry Berry and the Peach Strawberry flavors and I am in love. The drinks are not too heavy and overly sugary and sweet like some other juice drinks can be and were really yummy, even the picky little one loved them. I got the drinks in the mail in the afternoon and by the next day, they were history. While I certainly don't advise letting your kids drink a crap ton of juice in a day, if you must let them drink juice, at least make it a healthier choice like V8 V-Fusion® Refreshers and at a MSRP of only 3.49, you can actually afford to let them enjoy a healthy alternative to other drinks. |
