More than 200,000 families have been helped by the Make A Wish foundation since its start in 1980. Every 40 minutes, somewhere in the US, a child's wish is being granted, thanks to generous corporate contributions and private donations from people such as yourself. The great thing about Make A Wish is, you don't have to be rich to make a difference, every single dollar counts, you don't even have to use your own money... from now until March 31st, Heinz and PAAS {the official sponsors of Easter in my home this year and every year} will donate $1 (up to 25,000) to the Make A Wish foundation when you decorate and share a virtual Easter egg with their new app, available online and iPad. Simply search "PAAS/Heinz" in the iTunes store or go to the PC version HERE.

When I was a young girl, I couldn't wait until I was able to wear make-up. I would spend hours just playing in my Mom's products, mixing eye shadow colors and experimenting with different looks. Finally the time came for me to be allowed to wear make-up and it became a huge part of my life. I loved how make-up could compliment my outfits or my moods. I truly enjoyed the whole make-up experience... until I became a Mom. Having kids changes EVERYTHING about your life. Since becoming a Mom, i have tried to find ways to expedite all aspects of my life, as to cram as much stuff into the day as humanly possible, including my beauty routine.
It's starting to warm up a little bit here in Tennessee, we've even had several days in the upper 60's, and with that warmth comes thoughts of the spring garden. This will be our first year to have a real garden and I am super excited. I have been wanting to plant a garden for years and now we can... and I have zero idea what I'm doing. When I was a kid, my Mom had a small garden with lettuce and a couple of tomato plants in it and I had an old whiskey barrel that she let me plant beans in, so my gardening knowledge is very limited to say the least, but I have faith that it is not brain surgery, but simple science, and I will do fine. Due to the rules of my Homeowner's Association and drainage issues we've had, I chose to plant in raised beds. I had a hard time finding something I liked, that was in my price range and also the right size, so I decided to build my own. I found several plans online and tweaked them to meet my needs. I decided to build a bed that was 18 in high, 2 ft wide and 4 ft long. It would fit the space beside my back patio and would be just the right size for me to tend to easily... it would be perfect!
I checked different prices online and found Lowe's to have the best prices on what I'd need. For this project, I used.....
As I was eating a large spoonfull of frosting earlier, I experienced a full-on, Oprah "A-Ha" moment.... {You can find the recipe for the cupcakes pictured above by clicking on the picture}
One man's trash... Is another Man's re-purposed baby wipes container. I hate throwing out perfectly good containers. I have a collection of empty baby wipes containers, plastic Crystal Light canisters and sour cream bowls that would embarrass most people, but not me. I see an empty container and think... "Hmmmm, What could I use this for", I usually have no idea, but keep them anyway, knowing a good use will pop up sooner or later. The Crystal Light canisters are tall and slender, so they fit in the fridge well without wasting much space, perfect for a small amount of leftovers. The baby wipes containers are great for storing all kinds of stuff... Nail polish and manicure supplies, make-up, all the stray pens and pencils that always seem to find their way into my purse, kid's crayons, I even use one for all those free make-up samples you sign up for, but never use, but my favorite use is to put plastic grocery bags in them.
The top is perfect for one-at-a-time dispensing, which If you have a child still in diapers, you will know how important it is to have plastic bags handy for poopy diaper disposal. |
